The photographs capture casual, unguarded atmospheres—ordinary scenes that feel still, yet begin to shift the moment they are seen. This work reflects the idea that landscapes are never fixed, but continue to transform through time and memory. The title ミタイミタ is a playful adaptation inspired by the Spanish phrase “mitad y mitad” (half and half), suggesting a state that exists in between—between presence and absence, before and after. The physical object is central to the work. The title is hand-painted on the cover using a stencil technique, carrying the artist’s thoughts on reproduction and designed to change gradually with age. Two frames, one moment. Stories emerge in between. 半判日和 (It’s a day for Half-frame) is a photo zine composed of snapshot works taken with a half-frame film camera. The project embraces one of the defining characteristics of half-frame film—two consecutive frames developed and viewed together—allowing meaning to emerge through pairing and sequence. While each photograph captures an everyday scene, new narratives unfold through their combinations. Seen side by side, the images create subtle connections, inviting the viewer to slow down and discover stories that exist not within a single frame, but in the space between them. The cover reflects the artist’s thoughts on reproducibility. Each title is hand-printed using a stencil technique, resulting in slight variations in texture and atmosphere from copy to copy. No two editions are exactly alike. 半判日和 was presented at the ZINE fair COLLECTIVE 2025, held at PARK GALLERY, where the work also received a written review.
